The list, which hails 12 personalities in different fields, aims to celebrate International Women’s Day, which takes place on March 8.
“Creating a better future for women means building bridges across generations, communities, and borders. These extraordinary leaders are working toward a more equal world,” stated TIME Magazine.
Born in Beirut, Amal Alamuddin Clooney moved to London during the Lebanese Civil War.
She studied at St. Hugh’s College in Oxford, where she was the recipient of a scholarship and the Shrigley Award. In 2000, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts in Jurisprudence.
In 2001, she entered New York University School of Law to complete her Master’s degree in Laws.
She was also a clerk for the clerkships program at the International Court of Justice.
By 2014, she became a prominent figure in law and her work in the humanitarian field, handling highly critical cases.
Her career as human rights barrister has given her the privilege to be selected for the UN’s three-member commission to look into the conflicts in the Gaza Strip during the Israel–Gaza conflict.
She also represented Julian Assange and the former presidents of Ukraine and the Republic of Maldives.
The Lebanese-British lawyer is also an activist, constantly supporting the importance of freedom of the press. She is also known for working with the Yazidis who endured ISIS brutalities in Iraq.
Amal Clooney is currently working in international law, criminal law, human rights law, and extradition law, while also teaching at Columbia University.

Amal Clooney is an amazing person and we are very proud that she and her husband decided to purchase an estate in a french east-southern city named Brignoles, where my mum created a small private zoo in 1967. It’s closed by now but I still live in thé Var and I do wish I’ll meet the Clooney’s family one day. In the meantime, take care all of you. Nadine
