  1. Throughout this entire blog, 2013-2015 I have to say I truly am intrigued by the variety of comments, both subjective & objective, as well as positive and negative. I appreciate hearing all aspects and viewpoints from everyone. They are interesting, thought-provoking, reflective, abstract, and at times “with a twist” to encourage a different way of seeing a viewpoint. I enjoy them all and I believe it’s a good thing. I commend all of you women (and men, too, if they are posting) for your courage & confidence to express things as you see them. Your input is valued & appreciated. Positive, negative, subjective, objective….all offer interesting views. I often look at a post and think, “hmm, that’s interesting, I would have never seen it that way”. Or “good point, I like that suggestion”. Or “I see where that person is coming from, but I don’t quite see what they see.” There is never a reason to “attack” another person on the blog if their comments or views do not perfectly match your own. This does not mean they are “jealous”. It does not mean they are being “negative”. It does not mean they are “mean”. It does not mean they “hate Amal”. It means they are critically thinking & sharing their input just like everyone else is. Good, bad, indifferent….everyone shares & offers what they wish as they interpret or view it through their eyes & vision. So again, thank you to all of you out there, both men & women, who have intelligently & confidently shared your own personal feeling on Amal’s (and George’s) fashion style. And for those of you who have felt “bullied” off this blog & have left…..please come back. Your voice & perspective is valued. 🙂

  2. I also love the fact, that a variety of ages post on this blog. It’s quite interesting how the different age groups perceive what’s “proper”, “appropriate”, “too young”, “too old”, “too high”, “too low/short”, “too much”, “not enough”, and more. And I chuckle when sometimes we all “pick on poor George”. It’s all in good fun & we all get it. I also, like hearing from the different cultures & ethnicities. For example, I think there is a Lebanese woman that must be on the blog. I enjoy reading her posts as well as everyone else. It’s truly bizarre how some minds go straight to “jealous, mean, catty, critical, negative, mean”. To be frank, I have not read one post that has been “jealous”, “mean”, “catty”, “negative” “critical”. I’ve been reading posts by some very educated, smart, open-minded people who have viewpoints, opinions, ideas, suggestions…..nothing wrong with that. Keep them coming, please! 🙂

    1. Well said, Jaclyn. It seems to me some people here are unable to see the difference between a (justified) negative opinion on some aspect of Amal – whether it’s something she’s wearing, how she looks, her lifestyle, attitude etc – and a personal attack on her. It’s an objectivity fail on their part.

  3. She is totally overdressed for a kids movie premiere. Just look at the other cast members and then look at Amal. She’s not even starring in the movie but is dressed as if she is the lead actress. Yes, the dress is nice (though the underwear situation is not), but I think a huge part of “style” is being able to dress appropriately for the situation. Anyone can be given a great, super expensive, dress by a stylist and wear it but that doesn’t make them stylish – it’s about being glamorous AND appropriate. This was just OTT.

    1. Yes, you make a good point. This was not her night to shine. Should have downplayed it for the actors sake. Not very considerate.

  4. I read that’s her brother Samer – seriously, it is so weird for GC to have his brother in law at a premiere. It really is like taking your family to a work engagement – because promoting the film is part of GC’s contract. Does anyone else find that just a little odd?

I wonder if GC is on ‘Alamuddin Family’ overload after these past few months…lol!

  5. It’s nice to see Amal in glamorous gowns but I won’t want to live her life. Being a barrister and having to jet around and doll up to support your spouse… I’d rather curl up in my pjs and read in bed at night. And we all wonder why she’s so thin?

  6. So pleased about Stella McCartney’s new range:

“…However, the designer says the call for self-aware faux fur came from consumers.

“[I have been] speaking to younger women about it recently and they don’t even want real fur. So I feel like maybe things have moved on, and it’s time, and we can do fabrics which look like fur if we take them somewhere else.”

Do you think Amal will try Fur Free Fur now it’s going to be “fashionable”?? Let’s hope her vanity grows a conscience, even if it’s just for fashion’s sake.

And then perhaps she can take the next step and work on her fetish for wearing dead reptiles.

    1. Thanks for your post Anna…yes, i sure hope so..and soon, because it really baffles that she seems to be so unconscious, it makes she looks really uneducated and insensitive, because not only she wears it, but she pass on the message that the more expensive they are the better, like with this clutch. There is no need to take that route just for some strange fetich wish reptiles… which is already, in itself, strange.

      1. Very well said Anna & Nadia :)) I had posted in the past a link that shows the cruelty and brutality these reptiles/dogs/other creatures have to endure so individuals like AC among others would be able to accessorize their looks…so not cool. What they all really need is a wake up call !!!

  7. I am confused about the message her protruding hips are giving to young people.

It is concerning. Does she have a body image and eating problem? She is becoming a “thinspo” for “pro-ana” websites…. (Thinspiration and pro-anorexia) – see:

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thinspo

A teen just posted this on one of the pro-ana forums/websites:

“Noticed an article in a magazine about Amal losing weight since marrying George clooney. Looking at more pics of her in gold dress now and she seems the perfect thinspo. Looking great x ”

God help us all and that child when protruding hips on a celebrity lawyer become ‘inspiration’.

    1. That has to be one of the most frightening things I have read in a while. And that is saying something. More than anything it goes to show the basic truth that we cannot ignore – with celebrity comes responsibility. Certainly in an ideal world every celebrity would enjoy the autonomy to do as they please, but unfortunately the world is rarely so simple.

That is such an incredibly shocking statement to read from a teenager.

    2. Anna, I don´t think there will be any child born in this marriage …George on having children with Amal in an interview with CBS:
“I don’t really [think about it],” he told (Charlie) Rose. “I mean, I’ve thought about it, I suppose, but it hasn’t been high on my list.” He did note, however, that he’d been hearing the question more since marrying Alamuddin back in September.
Amal is 37, George is 54 … a baby is not a priority … If a woman is really keen to have a child AND is already 37 AND married then she would not wait longer until she is too old. I suppose Amal is NOT interested having a child.

    3. It seems to me Amal is just the super skinny type,, she was already very thin before, so we need to accept that. However, being that skinny for the sake of beauty or inspiration for beauty, that would be sad, indeed, because not everyone has this kind of metabolism and should not seek to be that skinny.

  9. In Our Magazine Spiegel, weil-reputated, you can Read about Gallianos efforts to get clean. He apologized a lot of times for the antisemitic utterances. Why should that Great Artist not get a 2nd chance?
Some ladies commented, that they hate Anna Wintour. I do not know her personally, so i am really not able to judge her. But she must be very brave to bring this man back into the Society and support him.
    Great.

    1. I’m getting really tired of people saying ‘you can’t judge because you don’t know them personally.’ I want to address this. Each individual has two personas. The personal and the public. It is perfectly acceptable to not know someone ‘personally’ but judge them on their work and their public presence. If we adopt your attitude of not judging those we do not personally know, we would live in a very static and dictatorial world. We judge people on their work all the time – the music we buy, the politicians we elect, the shops we frequent. There is nothing at all wrong with this.

When people comment on their dislike for Anna Wintour they are obviously not doing this personally, they are commenting on her work and public persona. It is imperative that we express views on the powerful.

I echo the sentiments above, in response to your comment but also generally – any criticisms of AC and her associates is not personal, just as anything praiseworthy that is said cannot be personal.

      1. Some judgments are quite inappropriate. And it is not because our society is everytime judging that it is correct. You are free to think what you want but it is different when you write it or express it in public. Our society is sick and the appareance is sadly more important than the true values.

      2. Nati, I was careful to say ‘judge them on their work or public persona’. We have clear limits on what is and isn’t acceptable – slurs on somebody’s gender, race, nationality, even religious beliefs are not acceptable. But I do not believe in the limitation of the freedom of speech beyond this. There is nothing wrong with commenting on the work of someone like Anna Wintour and saying one doesn’t think much of someone who endorses Size Zero models. They put themselves in the public eye, their work influences countless individuals, we have a right – I would even say a duty – to express our views on such things.

      3. ESR, when she is like in the film “the devil wears Prada”, then I really hate her. But I do not know her work. Nevertheless it is nice to see, that People give others a Chance, when they are down and made a big mistake. After apologizing and doing good work für the Jewish people- I mean in this case – Mr. Galliano – he serves a 2nd Chance. That is all what I meant.

Furthermore I have the Feeling, that due to a lot of foreigners – including me – there a many misunderstandings. Could that be?

  10. I agree with you esr. But I also wonder if we should be kinder for now to Amal. I know she is 37 and while that sounds old I know that at that age I was still developing as a person. I just think most of us would be overwhelmed by the attention and the free designer clothes and all that stuff. Of course after a while we would get over it and become more discriminating and less showy. It’s early days. They are newly in love. Let’s see how they go. In the meantime, I wish them love.
